Community Partners
Baha'i Community
The worldwide Baha'i Community works towards building vibrant, equitable, and flourishing communities in which all can use their talents to contribute towards the good of the whole. A central pillar of the Baha'i vision is the elimination of racial prejudice. In 2019, at the request of the Montclair Baha'i community, the Montclair Town Council issued a Proclamation that named the 2nd Sunday in June as Race Amity Day in Montclair. Race Amity recognizes and celebrates our ability to overcome racial prejudice through association, amity, and collaborative action.
Montclair History Center
The Montclair History Center seeks to preserve, educate, and share. It preserves local history through historical buildings, artifacts, and documents; it educates the community about local history through programs, advocacy, and exhibits; and it shares the stories and history of various persons and groups that have and continue to shape Montclair.

The Mark
The Mark Montclair is a vibrant United Methodist community that began its journey in 1880 as the first African American church in Montclair, New Jersey. From humble beginnings with 25 members, but with a powerful, divine calling to serve and transform lives, our mission of love and hope has embraced, encouraged and empowered children, adults, families, and communities. We have made a lasting impact, embraced social justice and community service, and played pivotal roles in establishing key organizations, such as the Washington Street Y.M.C.A., the Montclair NAACP, Montclair Y.W.C.A., the only Y.W.C.A. in the nation founded and directed by African American women.
Friends of Howe House
We are a community coalition dedicated to the preservation of the historic home of James Howe, the first African-American homeowner in
Montclair, and to the legacy of the local African-American community. We are activists, community leaders, historians, and ministers who originally came together with the hope of achieving State and National landmark status for the James Howe House. We now embrace the struggle to ensure that property ownership is returned to the African-American community in a manner that is worthy and good.
